Doctors for America Applauds Biden’s Executive Order on Contraception Access
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, President Biden signed an executive order to strengthen access to affordable, high-quality contraception, and family planning services. The order also directs federal agencies to increase access to contraception under the Affordable Care Act, through Medicare and Medicaid, for service members and veterans, and through a wide scope of other federal programs. This is the third executive order signed by the administration related to reproductive access.
“The decision about whether, when, or how to become a parent is one of the most important life decisions we make. People should have access to birth control, abortion, prenatal care, family planning, and parenting support so they can make the decision that is best for themselves and their families,” stated Meghana Rao, MD, President and Chair of DFA’s Board of Directors.
Doctors for America applauds the Administration’s work to protect access to contraception and family planning services that disproportionately affected persons of color, low-income persons, and persons living in rural communities.
