DFA Statement on the President’s 2026 Health Care Agenda Hearing
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., appeared before the Senate Finance Committee and continued his war on evidence-based medicine. Senators rightly challenged his repeated falsehoods about antidepressants, birth control, and vaccines, as well as his dangerous pattern of spreading misinformation under the guise of science. They also appropriately challenged his actions in curbing patient access to lifesaving care and treatment and downplaying the impacts of recent policies advanced by the Trump administration that will further exacerbate the costs of care for millions across the country. Doctors for America commends the Senators who have joined the growing bipartisan call for Secretary Kennedy’s resignation.
Our members were present at the hearing, witnessing firsthand as Secretary Kennedy continued to make misleading and false claims about our nation’s public health response. Secretary Kennedy has once again used his position of authority to amplify baseless claims that stigmatize lifesaving medical treatment and undermine public confidence in evidence-based care. The Senators who pressed Secretary Kennedy on these lies demonstrated the kind of leadership and commitment to science that Americans expect and deserve. Their insistence on facts over fear reflects the values that should guide HHS: protecting the health and well-being of all Americans through evidence-based medicine and sound public health practice.
Doctors for America continues to join with leading medical and public health organizations in calling for Secretary Kennedy’s resignation. At a time when our nation faces urgent challenges in chronic disease, mental health, infectious disease, and health equity, we cannot afford to have an HHS Secretary who elevates conspiracy theories and misinformation over science and truth, putting the health and safety of our patients at risk.

About Doctors for America:
Doctors for America (DFA) is a national movement of more than 27,000 physicians and medical students across all 50 states and every specialty who are committed to putting patients over politics. We mobilize and train clinicians to be effective advocates, equipping them with the skills to influence policy and lead change at both state and federal levels. Our work focuses on three core areas: expanding access to affordable care, strengthening community health and prevention, and advancing health justice and equity. Unlike many organizations, DFA does not accept funding from pharmaceutical companies, insurers, or for-profit healthcare corporations—ensuring that our voice remains independent, trusted, and grounded solely in what is best for patients. By uniting the trusted voices of doctors and medical trainees, DFA drives policy change, defends evidence-based care, and works to improve the health of our patients, communities, and nation.
