Doctors for America’s FDA Task Force Disappointed in Secretary Kennedy Congressional Hearing Delay

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Doctors for America’s FDA Task Force is deeply disappointed that Secretary Kennedy did not accept an invitation to testify before the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee this week.

Secretary Kennedy recently received a bipartisan invitation from HELP committee leadership to testify on the recent reductions in force and reorganization at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This hearing was a critical opportunity for lawmakers and the American public to gain insight into the proposed changes and their potential impact on our healthcare system.

Amidst an unprecedented shift in agency prioritization and a deadly measles outbreak, Secretary Kennedy’s decision to forgo this week’s hearing and instead postpone it to a future date creates significant delays in the transparency and accountability that are essential for fostering informed decision-making.

We urge Secretary Kennedy and HELP Committee leaders to work together to schedule a public hearing as soon as possible.
