Beyond the Headlines: Advocacy, Policy, and the Road Ahead for Gender Affirming Care
March 27 @ 8:00 pm–9:00 pm EDT

Session Overview
This session will provide a comprehensive overview of what gender-affirming care (GAC) includes—and what it does not—for both adult and pediatric patients. Participants will gain insight into current federal policy changes and their real-world impact on patient care. Additionally, the session will explore actionable steps that physicians and public health advocates can take to address limitations on GAC at interpersonal, clinical, institutional, state, and federal levels. Through discussion and strategy-building, attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of how to navigate and advocate for equitable access to GAC.

Why This Matters
Physicians and public health advocates must understand what GAC actually includes (and what misinformation is being spread), how evolving federal policies impact care delivery, and what concrete actions they can take to protect and expand access. With restrictive laws, insurance barriers, and political attacks on trans healthcare escalating, this session equips healthcare professionals with the knowledge and tools to navigate these challenges, advocate effectively, and ensure patients receive the care they need.
