Member Spotlight: David Hirsch

David S. Hirsh MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Emory University School of Medicine, and the Director of Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at Grady Memorial Hospital and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, Atlanta VA Medical Center.

He is a new member of DFA’s Drug Affordability National Steering Committee and has also been involved in developing the 2021 National Leadership Conference.

What part of medicine fascinates you the most? 

I find the entire process of decision-analysis, particularly as it relates to risk-benefits assessments, completely challenging and constantly engaging.

What do you like to do in your “spare” (Haha!) time?

I am a voracious reader and devoted Hockey enthusiast.

What is something that most people don’t know about you?

I both play the ukulele and know how to juggle.

If you could have dinner with anyone in history that made a positive impact on healthcare, who would it be?

In order to practice my German and engage my curiosity, its a close tie between Wilhelm Roentgen and Werner Forssman.
